This week was a big one for me as I had my first paid writing assignment publish in Business Insider. In the past year, I made it a goal to write in outlets other than this blog, and I’ve been steadily increasing my portfolio.
The first piece I wrote was for Evie Magazine, about bringing wine to the holidays, and what would be accepted by the Make America Healthy Again group. Now, wine isn’t healthy, we know that, but neither is dessert. I lived on an elimination diet of no added sugar, gluten, dairy, nightshades, caffeine and alcohol for six months after my son was born, and while I liked how all my clothes fit my body, I was kind of a headcase worrying about what I could and couldn’t put into my body. I prefer moderation, and no to low residual sugar wine made with grapes that are sustainably and/or organically farmed is a good compromise for a celebration. I do find that staying away from just coffee and gluten and certain types of dairy is easier for me to manage.
I’ve also been working on placing consumer and experiential products in other articles written by other people. So far I’ve placed wine recommendations in Women’s World and Mashed, and provided my expertise about Medicare vs Medicare Advantage plans (did you know I’m a Medicare DMEPOS expert?) in Investopedia.
I have a couple blog and WineTraveler.com articles planned in the next few months, as well as some work in Neighbors of Glen Ellyn coming soon. I’m both a published writer in print and online and that’s been an exciting turn of events.
A Fun Event

From April 10-12th, there is a shopping event in Geneva, Illinois known as JULIETS Weekend Geneva. Standing for “Just Us Ladies Into Eating Together and Shopping,” the weekend is full of added gifts with purchase, discounts, additional food and drinks offerings, and chances for prizes.
With the purchase of a $50 ticket, you get a beautiful bracelet in shades of pink from Liz ‘n Kate Boutique, a reusable tote bag, and a hosted welcome party at Geneva History Museum on Friday, April 10th, with food and drinks for all attendees. I had the chance to preview the event and it was pretty fantastic. Discounts at Blinka Optical, Up North Tasting Room, and the Royal Wren were highlights, while gifts with purchase at Scout and Gem, State Street Jewelers, and Inluro, and then discounted food and drinks at participating restaurants were amazing. My husband and my favorite restaurant is Niche, which had samples of their espresso martini and it was divine!
If you are looking for time to get together with girlfriends, you can use my special JULIETS weekend coupon code and discount code for $5 off your ticket. Use Code JAIME26JULIETS for $5 off your JULIETS Weekend Geneva ticket!
On the Horizon
I have some very exciting news coming on the horizon in the next couple months. I’ll be hosting my first influencer event, working on getting my garden started (this is my second year gardening and my first year was very bountiful!) We’re doing a bit of family travel and then before you know it, it will be summer!
I’ll be offering some new ways to enjoy this website, so stay tuned!
